Monotypes

I was introduced to the monotype process years ago and taught by two
wonderful artists; Polly Hammet in Houston, Texas and Marie Leterme
in Galveston, Texas. I am forever grateful to them and still enjoy
experimenting with monotypes. Here are some of the latest efforts
made without a press using water based printmaking inks.

A collage of "Shadow Series" Studies

It was late on a sunny afternoon one day last summer when I had an
indescribable sensation. I was standing on our patio and noticed my
shadow, which was very elongated. I had been reading and thinking
about the Jungian shadow side of ourselves. All of a sudden, I had
the strongest urge to start painting the whole shadow sensation; not
just what I saw but what I sensed. This is a sample of some of the
work that started pouring out of me. Sizes range from a very small 3"
x 4" to a much larger 46" x 64". I am still engaged in exploring this
subject ten months later.

Black and White Exercises

Some collage, some home made stamps, found object stampings, ink and
lots of black and white paint were used to create these little 'play
